The IU Chapter of Brain Exercise Initiative was founded by Risha Mehta in the Summer of 2020. Risha was compelled to start this initiative as she is intrigued by the complexity of the brain, specifically with an interest in brain disorders. In order to further her interests in neurodegenerative diseases and patient care, she brought this organization together to provide the opportunity for IU students to interact with Alzheimer's residents and form friendships!
Since the summer of 2020, BEI at IU has recruited over 30 active members to the organization. Our amazing volunteers are able to volunteer either virtually or in person, combatting the COVID-19 pandemic by providing opportunities to match the needs of all our volunteers. At BEI we foster deepened connections by being more than a volunteer organization. Members are able to attend social events and join committees that enable them to further their own interests, such as graphic design or events. This creates a cohesive organization that transforms a passion for service into a meaningful initiative.
